Art Basel 2026

15 - 21 Jun 2026
Overview

A Gentil Carioca brings to Art Basel 2026 a collective selection conceived around the theme of Nature and Freedom, gathering works that engage with questions of territory, ancestry, ecology, memory and transformation.

The booth features works by Agrade Camíz, Ana Silva, Arjan Martins, Carlos Jacanamijoy, Denilson Baniwa, João Modé, Kelton Campos Fausto, Laura Lima, Marcela Cantuária, Mariana Rocha, Maria Nepomuceno, Miguel Afa, Novíssimo Edgar, OPAVIVARÁ!, Pascale Marthine Tayou, Renata Lucas, Rodrigo Torres, Rose Afefé, Sallisa Rosa, Siwaju, Vinicius Gerheim e Vivian Caccuri.

Through multiple languages, the selection articulates a dialogue between contemporary art and ecological, Afro-diasporic, and Indigenous perspectives, bringing together investigations into the body, landscape, spirituality, and freedom.

A Gentil Carioca is also present in the Unlimited sector with Safira (2025), by Agrade Camíz — a large-scale painting that unfolds as an expanding reliquary. Layered in deep and vibrant blues, the work calls forth the precious stone not as ornament but as presence: a sentient entity, a keeper of time and a territory of its own.
