Overview

What is wanted is to create situations that activate and increase the potency of life. Situations set in the everyday of common affections, how to make and share food. Like drinking and dancing together, or partying some day in the square, on the beach or on the street.

– Moacir dos Anjos, Three Things I Think I Know About OPAVIVARÁ!, 2013

OPAVIVARÁ! is a collective of visual artists who live and work in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Since its creation, the group has been actively participating in the panorama of contemporary arts in Brazil and the world, developing actions in public squares, beaches, streets and avenues, fairs, in galleries and cultural institutions. The four artists who are members of OPA! re-signify everyday objects and organize actions aimed at questioning the use of urban spaces, thus generating flows of life, art and poetry, in which the public is not only invited to interact with the works, but become a fundamental agent for the execution and existence of works. Social Network is an example of their relational sculptures, the work consists of several hammocks sewn side by side, where the audience is invited to lie down, roll and rest in an installation that offers conviviality and body movement among the participants. OPA! generates perceptual and political changes in the universe of human relations, triggering reflections on everyday experiences.
