Vinicius Gerheim
Shapes, rhythms, vibrations, and sympathies compose relations of forces that encrypt their own existence. These are paintings that disrupt the boundaries of the public and private by managing the limits of language and of the self.
– Walla Capelobo, 2021
Born in 1992, in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Vinicius Gerheim is an artist whose production touches the intersections between sexuality and faith, in the field of the child's memory and its multiform narratives. In his work, he materializes images coming from the desire to transform lost sensations into language. To the artist, being a LGBTQIAP+ person allowed him, since the very beginning, to overthink patterns, norms and codes that limited his body. It is through painting that he amplifies his sensibility, reshapes these codes and gets re-enchanted by things that haven't been translated.
