Maria Nepomuceno | ∞ ∞ infinita infinito

23 May - 1 Aug 2026 São Paulo
Overview

A Gentil Carioca São Paulo presents ∞ ∞ (infinita infinito), a solo exhibition by Maria Nepomuceno, opening to the public on Saturday, May 23, at 2 pm.

In new works conceived especially for the exhibition, Nepomuceno creates three-dimensional spiral structures that operate between painting, sculpture, and installation. Working with ropes, beads, ceramics, and fabrics, she constructs forms that yield and hang under the action of gravity, articulating gradual color transitions and relationships between transparency, shine, and opacity.

The works were developed simultaneously and in constant relation to one another, occupying the exhibition space as a single expanding organism. The idea of infinity — something that neither begins nor ends, as the artist herself defines it — runs through the exhibition as a structuring principle, visible both in the spiral forms and in the chromatic continuity that connects the pieces to one another and to the architecture of the space. The presentation text is written by Laura Lima.
