For this edition of Artissima, we present a selection of works that engage with the fair’s theme, “Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth”, the 1969 book by Richard Buckminster Fuller. Inspired by Fuller’s vision — which advocates for an intelligent, technological, and cooperative management of the planet’s limited resources — our presentation highlights the artist as an interpreter of complexity, capable of translating scientific and social challenges into visual metaphors.
A Gentil Carioca recognizes this role of the artist as a navigator, dreamer, and systems thinker. The gallery thus becomes a space of co-authorship and experimentation, where the works not only engage with the urgencies of the present but also create spaces for reflection toward more sustainable futures.
