Monstros Algor is a series by Thatiane Mendes that explores a family of “skins” born from the fusion of the organic and the mineral. Created from solutions of starches, algae, medicinal teas, and natural pigments, these materials transform into surfaces that breathe, dry, and harden, capturing the fleeting moment between liquid and solid.
The research examines moisture, heat, and time as sculptural forces—processes that evoke the body, the landscape, and the domestic memory of gesture. Each work is a resting epidermis—a living matter on the verge of change—that reveals the cycle of birth, dissolution, and the persistence of matter.]
