Monstros Algor é uma série criada por Thatiane Mendes que investiga uma família de “peles” nascidas da fusão entre o orgânico e o mineral. Produzidas a partir de soluções de amidos, algas, chás medicinais e pigmentos naturais, essas matérias transformam-se em superfícies que respiram, secam e se endurecem, preservando o instante intermediário entre o líquido e o sólido.
A pesquisa explora umidade, calor e tempo como forças escultóricas, processos que evocam o corpo, o território e a memória doméstica do gesto. Cada obra é uma epiderme em repouso — uma matéria viva prestes a mudar de estado — que revela o ciclo de nascimento, dissolução e permanência da matéria.

Created from solutions of starches, algae, medicinal teas, and natural pigments, these materials transform into surfaces that breathe, dry, and harden, capturing the fleeting moment between liquid and solid.
The research examines moisture, heat, and time as sculptural forces—processes that evoke the body, the landscape, and the domestic memory of gesture. Each work is a resting epidermis—a living matter on the verge of change—that reveals the cycle of birth, dissolution, and the persistence of matter.]
