João Modé dá continuidade à sua pesquisa com pedras, iniciada na década de 1990. O artista relaciona sua produção com o cenário conceitual geométrico-abstrato brasileiro. Presente nos anos 1950 e 1960, esse movimento contemplou peças como os Relevos de Sérgio Camargo ou obras produzidas com areia por Mira Schendel, citados por Modé. De acordo com o artista, a relação entre as criações se estabelece com o grupo de obras anteriores que produziu, ainda que distante, como os Paninhos.
