O mitólogo Mircea Eliade afirmava que o homem “primitivo” ou “antigo” fechava-se em mitos como uma espécie escafandro, antes de mergulhar na realidade. Oito sapatos de pano atados uns aos outros trazem uma impossibilidade de movimento, ao mesmo tempo que indicam, dentro da linguagem do mito, que tempos assombrosos demandam ferramentas e soluções, à primeira vista, descabidas.
