L’Amour Motel 2021, is part of a series of works produced by the artist during the development of her research Avenida Brasil 24h, which investigates and makes explicit the relationships between: body and city, rest and movement, life and death along the longest avenue in the country and the longest urban route from BR-101 north (Ponte Rio-Niterói and Rio-Vitória highway / Niterói-Manilha) to BR-101 south (Rio-Santos highway) with its 58.5 kilometers that cut through 26 districts. most important expressway in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
The research was awarded and subsidized by the 7th edition of the ZUM Photography Scholarship at Instituto Moreira Salles in 2019. The Motéis series reflects the present aesthetic of the motel signs along the road. An analysis of their semantic and morphological aspects, cultural artifacts capable of placing us in time and space and producing different meanings, according to the historical and sociocultural contexts in which they are inserted. The enlarged and printed photographs on the mirror insert the spectator into the work in an inverted way and mirror the other images present from the place displaced from its origin, giving movement and virtuality to the works and participants.
