In “ANATOMY OF PRESENCE”, presented at SCHAUWERK Sindelfingen in Germany, Vivian Caccuri presents Overheated System, her largest sound installation to date. The commissioned work investigates the dynamics of energy and infrastructure, inhabiting the fine line between rigor, control, and chaos.

Among the references that permeate the creation is the aesthetic of “gatonet” and the informal arrangements of power cables that mark the urban landscape of Brazilian cities. The artist appropriates this visuality to explore electricity not only as a driving force but as sculptural and sonic matter, leaving all the wiring deliberately exposed.

The sound of the installation is generated live, without the use of digital files, by an analog modular synthesizer that manipulates the building’s own electricity. This sonic presence takes on a physical dimension through low frequencies that move the flames of twenty candles, replaced daily. The environment is integrated by the tapestries Ash Fossil I and Ash Fossil II, which visually capture the sound waves, with the entire space unified by the use of iron oxide, a pigment applied both in the painting and in the coloring of the concrete.

The work thus reflects on the materiality of sound and the tensions of contemporary infrastructures. By translating invisible frequencies into physical movements and tactile records, Caccuri's intervention invites the public to experience energy in a direct, immersive, and vibrant way.
