In “Selva Elétrica” [Electric Jungle], presented at CAIXA Cultural Brasília, Vivian Caccuri invites the public to wander through environments where sound, video, sculptures, and textile works transform the space into an immersive experience. In the exhibition, listening takes on a central role, just as important as seeing, building a vast sensory atmosphere.

The show creates a path that brings the jungle closer to the city: electrical cables take the shape of vines, and speakers are scattered across the gallery as if part of a forest. The environment is guided by sounds produced from scientific recordings of mosquitoes, combined with frequencies generated by artificial intelligence.

Drawing on over a decade of research into sound as a language and a form of interspecies communication, the artist uses the insect as an agent to reflect on memory, colonialism, and the environment. The project thus questions the historically established boundaries between nature and culture, proposing an inversion of the traditional gaze and calling for new ways of thinking about the coexistence between humans and non-humans.
