What do you see when you see a black woman? This is the provocation that the ballerina Val Souza invites the public to contemplate by bringing to the streets the dance solo can you see it? together with a sign written 'piriguete R$ 2 reais' (´tart R$2 reals’). The artist makes a mix of women's rights speeches on a track that mixes rhythms from the Brazilian peripheries.
By passing through the streets with her luminous cart, the artist acts as a walking sound system, or a walking party, drawing attention to what society prefers to hide. When exposing her body and her dance, she questions the logic of gender stereotypes based on male models of power.
