With the help of a painting copyist, several landscapes taken from art books as well as plant images taken from a book of botanical gardens, were copied. Using oil and acrylic on canvas, in this process, the artist removed the humans and animals from the copied landscapes. Laura cuts and folds the paintings and incorporates the copies of the plants, creating the impression that those figures are emerging directly from the landscape, and also making the rivers appear to flow out of the paintings onto the exhibition floor. The installation title: Nomads, refers to ethnographic exhibitions and suggests the presence of the viewer in front of a painting and wearing a mask, like if the landscape would be surrounding the viewer. Nomads title also refers to an idea of the artist that a landscape has to be named, otherwise it will become a never ending horizon.
