Na série "Pretos de Griffe", Bastardo explora temas de consumo, vaidade e lazer, atribuindo esses valores às identidades negras, que são frequentemente deslocadas desses espaços - evidenciando traços de empoderamento que são frisados pelo artista, as dinâmicas de poder e influência se manifestam em suas obras, que exploram pontos que impactam as vidas da população negra. Além disso, O Bastardo aborda esses assuntos como forma de reivindicar o que a história separou enfaticamente da população negra, frequentemente associada a um universo dominado por atos de violência e atrocidades. Dessa forma, o artista procura expandir a ideia de marca para além do seu significado comum, que é a ostentação - especialmente quando esse conceito está ligado a grupos considerados minoritários.

De acordo com o artista, existe “[...] um problema sério de resumir a periferia à violência policial, a pobreza, como se preto periférico fosse só pobre, miserável e bandido [...]. Daí, eu comecei a produzir a série “Preto de Griffe”, que não se trata disso. Os personagens são, em sua maioria, anônimos. Os trabalhos representam essa relação de mundos possíveis e realidades diferentes dentro de uma comunidade local. O papel é comunicar que você pode tentar ser o que você quiser, imaginar, ir atrás, você não é onde você está pisando.”


[In the series "Pretos de Griffe", O Bastardo explores themes of consumption, vanity and leisure, attributing these values to black identities, which are often displaced from these spaces - highlighting traits of empowerment that are spotlighted by the artist, as dynamics of power and influence manifest themselves in his artworks, which explore points that impact the lives of the black population. Furthermore, O Bastardo addresses these issues as a way of reclaiming aspects that history has emphatically separated from the black population, often associated with a universe dominated by acts of violence and atrocities. In this way, the artist seeks to expand the idea of a brand beyond its common meaning, which is ostentation - especially when this concept is linked to groups considered minority.

According to the artist, there is “[...] a serious problem of summarizing the periphery to police violence, poverty, as if black peripheral people were just poor, miserable and criminals [...]. Then, I started producing the series “Preto de Griffe”, which is not about that. The characters are, for the most part, anonymous. The works represent this relationship of possible worlds and different realities within a local community. The role is to communicate that you can try to be whatever you want, imagine, go in it, you are not where you are standing."]
