Em “Placidez e Perplexidade” Arjan Martins apresenta, em primeiro plano, o jovem João Pedro – injustamente assassinado pela polícia carioca em 2020 na favela do Salgueiro, Rio de Janeiro – vestindo uniforme escolar e cobrindo seu rosto com a mão ao enxugar as lágrimas. Imagem crucial para percerber a violência e a perpetuação da da condição de exploração do corpo negro no Brasil até hoje, embutidas nas estruturas racistas da contemporaneidade, que matam a esmo crianças e adolescentes moradoras de comunidades.
