Ao caminhar pelas ruas de Salvador, é comum encontrar colados nos postes de luz diversos cartazes que promovem variados serviços, desde empréstimos a trabalhos espirituais. Com o tempo, esses anúncios se deterioram, dando espaço para outros e revelam novas camadas de significados que refletem nossas urgências e desejos.
Postes (Street lights) é uma série feita a partir das fotografias que o artista realiza desses cartazes. Ao bordar cada peça à mão durante um tempo longo e lento, Matheus de Simone busca cristalizar o instante dessa imagem, que, feito um fóssil, tal como encontrada na rua, possivelmente já não existe mais.

[While walking the streets of Salvador, it is common to find several posters pasted to lampposts that promote various services, from loans to spiritual work. In time, these posters deteriorate, give space to others and reveal new layers of meaning that reflect our urges and desires.
Poles (Street Lights) is a series created from photos the artist took of these posters. By slowly embroidering each piece by hand over time, Matheus de Simone sets out to crystallize the instant of the image, which, like a fossil, can’t possibly exist anymore in the way that it was first encountered on the streets.]
