Bate-bola é uma manifestação artística marginal, talvez uma das mais importantes e acessíveis, uma cultura muito forte e muito importante dentro das favelas e subúrbios do Rio de Janeiro. Quando eu era criança e fazia parte desse universo, não conseguia entender como um policial fazia parte daquilo tão agressivo, tão fora da lei e injusto, como se a polícia fosse feita para "servir e proteger", mas hoje eu sei o porquê.

When I was a child and part of this universe, I couldn't understand why a policeman could be part of something so aggressive, so outlawed and unfair, as if the police were made to "serve and protect", but today I know why.
