As pinturas Friendship I e Ol' running cup o'blood fazem parte de uma coleção de experimentações unindo desenho e pintura a óleo, dois caminhos que tem explorado ao longo dos anos, separadamente e em conjunto. Do ponto de vista temático, há também uma sobreposição entre uma certa melancolia e um estilo próprio de humor. A princípio, as formas e a paleta cromática chamam mais atenção para o segundo, mas um olhar mais atento encontra afetos conflituosos, visão crítica e alguma angústia alegre.
