    A cabeça do homem se apresenta cortada do plano pictórico, no segundo plano um cão feroz come um alimento encarnado, em paralelo homem e animal se movimentam em consonância com as nuances da violência direcionada a população negra no Brasil até os dias de hoje.

    Nas pinturas de Martins percebemos um diálogo intenso com a tradição moderna ocidental – Goya, Manet, Bonnard, Iberê – e um desejo, não menos verdadeiro e relevante, de incorporar aí um repertório visual e uma narrativa afro-brasileira que esteve historicamente sem lugar de fala ou de visualização.     The man's head is cut off from the pictorial plan, in the background a ferocious dog eats a reddish food, in parallel man and animal move in accord with the nuances of the violence directed at the black population in Brazil until today.

    In Martins' paintings we see an intense dialogue with modern Western tradition - Goya, Manet, Bonnard, Iberê - and a desire, no less true and relevant, to incorporate a visual repertoire and an Afro-Brazilian narrative that has historically been without a place of speech or visualization.
