____________

Maria, the one with the slow and suspicious eye on the painting, was a member of the M-19 guerrilla movement, worked side by side with the men and had no criticism of differential treatment for being an armed woman among them.

The Movement April 19, M-19 or just the "M" was the revolutionary response given to the suspicions of fraud in the presidential elections that elected Julio César Turbay Ayala in Colombia.
Colombia was the birthplace in the 1960s of thousands of guerrilla groups in the countryside and in the cities, one of them, besides M-19 itself, is the FARC, the best known example.

In an interview given to Migramundo newspaper, on January 27, 2020 - exactly one year ago - Maria talks about affection and revolution:

"The M19 taught me to love, it gave me a deep conviction, it made me find the sense of life next to people who were by my side no matter their profession, their studies. We laughed and fought together. One day they interviewed the M-19 leader (Jaime Bateman Cayón) and asked him how he could walk so quietly through the streets, being one of the most wanted men in Colombia. And he answered that there was an affective current that protected him from death. That's it, that's the affection we had for each other that made us almost immortal".

Ligia, Maria del M-19 is still alive, she spent 10 years in exile in France until she became a citizen and today she is part of the Del Nodo Francia group that collaborates with the Truth Commission in Colombia, both as a member when she witnesses.
