A guerrilla from Bahia, a member of the revolutionary group formed by PCdoB, Dinalva was one of the many outstanding figures in our antifa history.
Between 1970 and 72, Dina joined the armed combat and was recognized as a teacher and midwife among residents of the Araguaia region. An expert sniper, with great physical preparation, leadership spirit and a determined personality, she was the only woman to be deputy commander of a guerrilla detachment, Detachment C. Her name was feared among the recruits summoned by the army to participate in combat operations in Araguaia. She faced military troops several times, wounding soldiers and officers, always managing to escape from the enemy's sieges. Among the caboclos of the region, she was the legend of the unbeatable, because if injured, she "disappeared becoming a butterfly". The military was especially determined to find Dinalva, considering her "very dangerous" and a threat to military action in the region. In order to destroy the myth created among the people of Araguaia to demoralize the guerrillas. Her death became necessary for the army. She was captured in the jungle, malnourished and extremely weak, killed by shots, she asked to die facing the man who killed her: Army Sergeant Joaquim Arthur Lopes de Souza. Dinalva's body was never found, making her one more missing politician from the brazilian military dictatorship.
