Na cosmologia iorubá, difunde-se o provérbio “Àyé lójà; Òrun nílé” — o mundo é um mercado; o céu (ou plano espiritual) é o lar. O mercado é o espaço onde se realizam trocas e movimentos econômicos; reúne não apenas a dimensão da venda, mas também a de um trânsito energético. É um lugar de comunicação no qual se estabelecem inúmeras sociabilidades.
