It begins at night and only ends during the day is one of the works in the Baile do Egito series, inspired by the movement to rename dances and communities in Rio de Janeiro after non-Brazilian territories. Whether by coincidence or not, the favela complex that today bears the name of an African country and one of the most important civilizations of antiquity, is where the artist was born and lived most of her life. In a dialog between aesthetics, culture and philosophy, the series seeks to connect the glorious past of Ancient Egypt, through Kemetic cosmology and cosmogony, to think about possible intersections with baile funk culture and the contemporary reality of the Afro-Brazilian "cria" of the favela.
