An installation based on the drawings of the non-human figures on the Pedro I monument, the first civic monument in Rio de Janeiro. The seven drawings, made with sanguine and acrylic paint on paper, are supported on plaster bases and arranged on the floor like fragments of a single broken piece. These representations capture the expressions of the screaming, roaring mouths of the monument's animals and mythological creatures, fixed to the bases with instruments used in surgical prostheses and dental material. Part of a 2017 research project on historical monuments in Rio de Janeiro, this piece is part of a constellation of works that investigate texts, subtexts, discourses and repetitions in urban memory devices.
