[In the series "Signature of the Forgotten", O Bastardo portrays famous icons claiming the space of the black community in spheres of intellectuality, re-presenting identities that were placed in a space of memory erasure. These figures were restricted from the black social group, assembling historical, social or philosophical knowledge to an academic group that is regularly elitist. Also, their images were erased due to lack of visual records and/or social appreciation. In this way, the artist claims his own idols and places them in a prominent position, creating an imaginary of collective representation.
In the artwork "Princess Aqualtune" O Bastardo introduces us to the warrior queen, grandmother of Zumbi dos Palmares, in northeastern Brazil. Aqualtune was born in Congo and inherited the royal lineage - she led part of the warriors in the Battle of Ambuíla, in 1665. Due to her leadership and resistance capacity, she became a symbol of the struggle of black womens. Her memory is preserved in oral traditions, inspiring the theme-plot of the Escola de Samba Mangueira, in 2019. Her story is also mentioned in the work of Jarid Arraes, entitled "Brazilian Black Heroines in 15 Cordéis".]
