[The alchemical principle “solve et coagula” (to dissolve and to coagulate) expresses the notion that one must first dissolve something in order to purify it, and then solidify it again so that it can be recreated on a higher level. It is a movement of dismantling and recomposing, a continuous cycle that drives evolution and development.
The image shows a Tupinambá man and woman blowing tobacco smoke in a spiritual healing ritual for an ill person. In the upper section, insects, birds, and other mythological figures confront beings from Christian mythology, as if disputing who would claim the spirit of the sick individual. In the lower section, mythological beings coexist with medicinal plants, poisonous plants, and magical plants.]
