Barbie, a boneca de cerâmica, indica a influência do contato com o exterior nas comunidades indígenas. O artista relata o impacto destas modificações inclusive nas relações interpessoais, familiares e sexuais do povo Baniwa. Neste sentido, a obra se relaciona ao Movimento Antropofágico Oswaldiano. O nome da personagem, derivativo de Bárbara, é descrito pela etimologia: a estrangeira, a alienígena, a que vem de fora.

Barbie, the ceramic doll, indicates the influence of contact with the outside world on indigenous communities. The artist reports the impact of these changes on interpersonal, family and sexual relationships among the Baniwa people. In this sense, the work is related to the Oswaldian Anthropophagic Movement. The character's name, derived from Bárbara, is described by etymology: the foreigner, the alien, the one who comes from outside.
