[In this painting, Miguel Afa intends to contemplate and construct memory. Between past, present and future, Afa brings together in pictorial space the existence of bodies and changes that occur in the landscape of the backyards of Rio's suburbs and favelas. This work is part of the series “O Tremor e o Terroso”, in which the artist proposes questions and reflections on territory and behavior. Touching on controversies that are intertwined in this respect, Afa mentions earth and ceramics - two different materials that take part in a process in which fruit trees are cut down in backyards to cover the ground with ceramics and cement, bringing a false sense of progress and prosperity.]
